PUBLIC BUILDING
Alliance Des Forces Démocratiques Du Congo is a private 5-story office building designed in response to the various contextual influences of Congo.
The design created with the exterior cladding and wide glass openings creates a contemporary and comfortable workplace, while at the same time revealing the neoclassical features of the building. The exterior composition is optimized to let in natural daylight, contributing to a rational and timeless solution, and the building occupants are engaged with the surrounding landscape.
The building's spacious floor heights and robust structural anatomy provide a safe and striking environment, allowing for greater flexibility and creative use of space.
The design team created a series of spaces on the design composition of the building, which has a centrally symmetrical entrance. While the areas create a strong architectural identity for the building, they also improve their function for the users. Architectural spaces that host social spaces, increase circulation, integrate mechanical systems, and encourage socialization act as a catalyst for cooperation.
This modern neoclassical building was designed with the utmost flexibility. To support this goal, the floors of headquarters will serve as an open and collaborative forum where employees and industry partners can meet and connect.
The ground floor is reserved for shops, while the upper floors are designed for the workplace and are flexibly planned to support the activities and functions of each different department. Each floor has workstations arranged in modular form to provide maximum flexibility when planning space. Flexible spaces and collaboration spaces direct users to their floors while floor-to-ceiling window walls allow natural daylight to enter the interior of the building. The restaurant floor is home to a station surrounded by banquets and comfortable seating that encourages users to meet and collaborate.
The four-floor headquarters evoke a sense of community among employees, while its design hosts transparency in a cohesive organization. The office can easily support multiple work styles, and the open-plan spaces provide unlimited connections to teammates. There are singular and universal spaces for focused study, collaboration, and conferences.
With more than 600 employees spread over five floors, the design solves not only the problem of where people work but also how they work.
